The Beneteau Swift Trawler 44, shown for the first time at Cannes in 2010, won the 2012 Award in the category “Trawler Yacht” at the ceremony of the Motor Boat of the Year Awards held on 9th January at London’s prestigious Savoy Hotel.
Every year this title is awarded by journalists from English magazines Motor Boat & Yachting and Motor Boats Monthly at the London Boat Show. It rewards the design and construction quality of the Beneteau Swift Trawler 44. The English magazine highlights the comfort and safety of the deck plan, as well as her interior comfort and hull seaworthiness, allowing smooth passage through the sea.It should be remembered that her two predecessors (The Swift Trawler 52 and 34) were also elected boat of the year (in 2009 and 2010) in the same category.

With the launch of the Beneteau Swift Trawler 44, the company marks the renewal of the range with the most successful ‘voyage’ style. As replacement of the Swift Trawler 42, the Beneteau Swift Trawler 44 adds to a range spanning from 34 to 52 foot : ST 34 – ST 34 Sedan – ST 44 and ST 52. The Beneteau Swift Trawler 44 offers the best navigational and on board living conditions : as a couple, with the family or friends, its new dimensions and clever layout ensure many unforgettable voyages lie ahead.
The Swift Trawler’s tried and tested hull ensures a faultless stability. Its optimised performance reconciles speed and controlled fuel consumption. The 2 x 300 hp engines allow to swiftly reach a cruising speed of 18 knots (with a maximum speed of 24 knots). Designed for life on board, the Beneteau Swift Trawler 44 reveals wide and ingeniously created interior spaces. The new asymmetrical deck is 40cm wider than the Swift Trawler 42 deck, resulting in a very spacious front cabin. The wheelhouse area has been completely rearranged and extended by 1 metre thanks to the modified front windows angle.
The front cabin is all about comfort and brightness with two large portholes. The guest cabin, portside, now boasts a double bed. Located on the starboard side, the 2 bathrooms, roomier and more modern, are befitting life on board. The saloon is equipped with a double sofa-bed and transforms into a double cabin once the privacy curtain is drawn. The U shaped kitchen provides a lot of storage space. And finally, a modernised, newly designed helm with anti-glare surface ensures optimal navigation conditions.
Unobstructed views and maximum brightness : the addition of wide fixed portholes in the hull gives a sense of harmony whilst other large round portholes can be opened for ventilation. Outside, the swim-platform has been extended and fitted with the same ergonomic steps as the Swift Trawler 52. Semi-fitted stairs lead up from the roomier cockpit to the Flybridge. In the cockpit, an L shaped seat can be used to eat in the shade.
The longer Flybridge (with an extra 1m) becomes a comfortable place for sailing side by side: the control station is fitted with two adjustable seats and a large instrument panel. The larger saloon, often a favourite living space, includes on the starboard side an integrated convertible sofa with plenty of storage. Finally, the lifting mast system is available with electric winch* to lift the dinghy effortlessly (maximum 3,20m long dinghy).
