The Bowls Club is rolling into London this summer with an outdoor English country Garden themed pursuit of happiness, and they want everyone to be a part of it! Bigger, better and bolder than ever seen before – the quintessentially British sport of lawn bowls will be given an inner-city party time spin like never seen before, and with 14 dates in Finsbury Square, there is no excuse to miss out.
Let’s be honest, space is at a premium in London and many Londoners might never have had the pleasure of picking up a jack and rolling it down a perfectly flat green towards a jack. However, this summer, they will get their opportunity as from May to September, The Bowls Club will pop up in all its splendour to bring people back together who for too long have been apart.
Whether a seasoned bowler or an off the street stroller, The Bowls Club will really catch the imagination of everyone who joins the fun. If you are expecting faint silliness? You’ll, in fact, get a full-on blast of festival-style mischief, indulgence and madcap entertainment. People won’t expect lawn bowls to be so outrageously fun, but trust us, it really will be!
With the hilarious MC, Mr Benjamin Owls, on the mic, bringing light and laughter to the beautifully manicured green and our experienced gamemasters bringing tips and tricks to those trying to crack the jack, one could be mistaken for thinking it’s all about the bowls….One thing’s for sure – it is not just the game that gets people hooting and hollering; it is also the delicious street food, refreshing drinks and green oasis of space available for lolling and revelling.
This year the Bowls Club will take place for 14 dates in the iconic Finsbury Square (EC1) under the shadows of the Alphabeta building and a stone’s throw away from The Royal Montcalm hotel offering ample opportunities for feeling the grass beneath one’s feet and gazing at blue skies….or celebrating the Queen’s platinum jubilee…..Or the home commonwealth games. Really there’s something for every fan of British summertime sport – be they real sports or the drinking and eating kind!
Apart from refreshing beer, pale ale, softs and quaffable wine, there will be champagne, cocktails, and awesome aperitifs. Joining the bars will be street food vendors Peleton Pizza, Summer Fried Chicken and Secret Nickys – That means a mouth-watering array of food for meat-eaters, veggies and vegans alike. Oh, and not forgetting those with a sweet tooth! There really is something for everyone, from incredible pizzas and succulent chicken to the ultimate frozen custard dessert.
Business, pleasure, whatever the excuse to get outside in the sun and enjoy some fresh air and fun, The Bowls Club provides visitors with it all.
