For their latest project, they’ve taken their skills beyond the clouds by delivering a complete end-to-end refurbishment of a ten-year-old Bombardier Global 5000 private jet, which has an interior that was inspired by the land of the rising sun.

Winch Design has announced the delivery of a complete end-to-end Bombardier Global 5000 refurbishment, which involved transforming a ten-year-old standard business jet into a unique individual interior statement.

The brief from the client was to take the dated original aircraft cabin and create a bright and characterful space, personal to the client. The jet features a large art feature wall on the aft bulkhead, which was also the starting point of the concept and is the standout element of the expressive new interior.

Inspired by the Japanese artist Kazuo Shiraga, the piece was commissioned as an original artwork painted directly onto the aircraft bulkhead. The bold colours and abstract detail provide an arresting focus to the aft Owner’s Lounge upon entering the cabin. The installation was challenging, with the artist applying the artwork directly to the bulkhead using fully-certified materials.

The jet’s interior draws individual colours from the art piece, combining a mix of subtle geometry in the custom tufted carpet and embossed stitched leather bulkheads. In addition, the seats are completely re-styled using high-quality leather to introduce a distinctly fresh and lighter feel to the cabin.

The aircraft was completed with the interior installation and maintenance carried out by Bombardier UK and all interior cabin refurbishment by the AeroVisto team in Switzerland.

Jim Dixon, Managing Partner and Creative Director of Yachts & Aviation, said, “The Winch Design team thoroughly enjoyed the fast turnaround of this bespoke interior refit. The art installation on the aft bulkhead presented several technical challenges, but the finished result creates a great impression!”.
