The Windy 37 Shamal Sportsboat by Espen Øino is Unveiled

With its modern-retro styling, the new Windy 37 Shamal appears good enough to emulate the success of the legendary Khamsin.

The 37 Shamal Sportsboat was conceived and designed by the acclaimed yacht designer Espen Øino and retained all of Windy’s core DNA.

Norwegian-born Espen founded his technical and design office specialising in yacht design, naval architecture and engineering-related disciplines, in Monaco. Much-like other child prodigies, Espen drew his first boat aged only two and is still today, as obsessed as he was back then.

The company, Espen Øino International, has left a significant imprint on the new-build market and is considered one of the world’s leading design studios for bespoke motor yachts.

This new Sportsboat’s core principle is “ease of use boating”. Plus, it has the added bonus of 21st-century styling, which, at the same time, harks back to some of the great boats of yesteryear.

The boat has a spacious cockpit, superb hull and, according to the manufacturer, excellent handling. Inspiration comes from the Windy models built in the Sixties and Seventies.

The Windy 37 Shamal makes great use of all available space

Maximising the use of space was one of the big considerations when designing the 37 Shamal. Windy claims they’ve optimised it down to the last millimetre.

Space is maximised by the implementation of numerous integrated storage solutions, which were designed to make the boat as versatile as possible.

The Windy 37 Shamal cabin

Although the Windy 37 Shamal was designed as a day boat, the spacious two-cabin arrangement allows a good deal more flexibility. The boat has a large forward cabin with a double bed and a roomy centre cabin with twin beds.

The 37 Shamal’s cockpit is both social and versatile. It has a removable aft sun pad, which can be easily protected by her new generation canopy system or Bimini sunshade. This makes the boat ideal for a range of weather conditions while still offering excellent visibility.

For those who don’t like hanging around, you’ll like what’s coming. The 37 Shamal should achieve more than 45 knots with the larger engine configuration.

The Windy 37 Shamal sleeping areas

With an innovative use of space, the latest technology and ‘not too shabby’ top-end. The 37 Shamal will appeal to boat enthusiasts in all markets. It’s an ideal boat for the short but sweet summers of Scandinavia, the serene lakes of Switzerland and the hotspots of the Mediterranean.
