Ynys Faelog, A New Island Retreat in Anglesey North Wales

The words ‘stunning’ and ‘island retreat’ usually conjure images of palm trees and beaches laden with gold-coloured sand. However, that’s not always the case. In this travel feature, we look at a brand new additions to the Welsh hospitality sector, Ynys Faelog and its sister property Ynys Faelog Cottage.

Ynys Faelog is a recently refurbished six-bedroom, five-bathroom property that sits upon a private island with far-reaching views across the Menai Straits. The property can cater for up to twelve guests. Its interiors have been thoughtfully designed to embrace its spectacular natural setting whilst offering all the modern conveniences necessary to create a memorable holiday.

The hot tub by the waterfront

Guests staying at the property will not be short of things to keep them occupied. The property boasts wrap-around gardens, a private tennis court, a hot tub, a barbeque area, a choice of stunning viewpoints, and even its own beach.

Ynys Faelog shares the private island with its sister property, Ynys Faelog Cottage, which can host up to 10 guests; if you want to celebrate on a grander scale, all you need to do is have both.

The view out to sea from the dining room

The island is easily accessible via a vehicular and pedestrian causeway and is in easy reach of a host of eateries, water activities and shops. In addition, access to the local marina and mooring facilities makes the property ideal for families with boats.

The surrounding area contains a multitude of attractions, including Pili Palas Nature World, Coed Cyrnol Nature Reserve and, of course, the incredible coastline.

A little further onto the Isle of Anglesey will bring you to Beaumaris, with its magnificent castle and busy pier. Bangor is easily reachable by car, and here, guests can spend time hiking in Eithinog North Walkes Wildlife Trust nature reserve, time on the beach at Bangor promenade or take in some history at Penrhyn Castle & Garden.

The view towards the bridge from inside the property

Ynys Faelog is a fabulous new addition to the hospitality scene and is ideal for a large family or group get-together. It’s island living at its best, and it sounds like it will be a Welsh escape to the extraordinary.
