Holt's Cafe's New Sunday Brunch Embraces the Cha Chaan Teng Culture

Holt’s Café on level two of Rosewood Hong Kong, known for its upscale local and international dining, has unveiled a new Sunday brunch menu that pays tribute to the city’s iconic cha chaan teng café-restaurant culture.

Cha Chaan Teng, meaning “tea restaurant” in Cantonese, is a culinary institution that serves a unique fusion of Chinese and Western cuisine, reflecting the city’s dynamic blend of cultures.

The modest eateries became popular in the 1950s and 1960s, catering to the working class and providing affordable meals laden with nostalgic comfort. Holt’s Café’s new Sunday brunch reimagines the modern cha chaan teng experience, elevating traditional dishes that offer an unforgettable journey through Hong Kong’s rich gastronomic heritage.
