The PLAYA Beach Club Opens on Palm West Beach, Jumeirah Palm Island

Nestled on Palm West Beach on the Jumeirah Palm island, which is regarded as the most beautiful stretch of beach in Dubai, is the newly opened PLAYA Beach Club. In this feature, we take a look at what it has to offer.

The PLAYA Beach Club is a new culinary destination on Dubai’s Palm West beach. It boasts an indoor restaurant and multiple outdoor lounge areas and is superbly located with views of Dubai’s iconic skyline from its position on the white sandy beach adjacent to chilled swimming pools.

Each day, the PLAYA Beach Club will be hosting a program of events, ranging from sunset rituals where the Shamanic House vibes celebrate the change from day to night with extravagant ceremonies, brunch feasts with free-flowing drinks, live cooking demonstrations on Sundays and more.

Chef Carlo Valentino performing a traditional Japanese greeting

Peruvian Chef Carlo Valentino, a dab hand at local and international flavours, is in charge of culinary affairs. His Peruvian-inspired menu contains influences from many of the world’s cultures, including Chinese, African, Spanish and Japanese, and these have all been combined with Peru’s native flavours.

The beach club's indoor dining area

The inspiration for the PLAYA Beach Club stems from a Japanese fisherman who headed to Peru to open a Cevicheria. He had a dream to create somewhere people could experience the best Nikkei Peruvian Cuisine. If you’re unsure what this culinary combination comprises, allow us to explain:

Ceviche is the most famous Peruvian dish and has been declared to be part of the country’s “national heritage”. It is composed of chunks of raw fish marinated in freshly squeezed key lime or bitter orange (Naranja Agria) juice, with sliced onions, chilli peppers, salt and pepper.

Nikkei cuisine is a fusion of Peruvian staple produce such as aji or yellow pepper, Andes potatoes and corn and Japanese ingredients such as miso, ginger, soy, wasabi and rice vinegar.

Two of the seafood dishes available at the beach club

The Peruvian-inspired menu focuses on seafood with traditional and authentic Peruvian flavours and spices; it also offers an exquisite variety of Grade 5 Wagyu beef, chicken, lamb and vegetables.

Outdoor partygoers and diners have the choice of pool and beach bar menus, which offer a selection of signature light bites such as Choclo and Asparagus, the Antichuchera, the Leche de Tigre in addition to a full range of Vegetarian signature bites with a Peruvian-Japanese inspiration.

The seating in the poolside dining area

Completing the club’s chilled-out vibe is a selection of flavoured Shishas, which are served at the beach restaurant and lounge.

The PLAYA Beach Club is open from 10:00 am to 2:00 am daily. Children are allowed if adults accompany them; however, pets are not. Reservations can be made by emailing [email protected], and you can find more information on the beach club and its facilities at www.playadxb.com.
