2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Review – Extraordinary & Understated

Among the best four-wheel performance saloons in the world

With a 50-50 weight distribution, this car is nicely balanced and handles well into the corners. It’s the perfect companion for a leisurely cruise, or for a blast on the country roads, which is where the Quadrifoglio truly comes alive. The sound that emanates from the four exhausts is raw and utterly sublime, and it almost urges you to look out for any opportunity to accelerate.

WLTP combined fuel consumption is quoted at 27.2 mpg, which is pretty respectable for a car of this kind, but your mind will never be far away from wondering how far you are from the fuel pumps.

For our 230-mile round-trip to the south coast, we averaged 30 mpg and used around three-quarters of the 58-litre fuel tank, which isn’t too bad. Combined CO2 emissions are pitched at 236 g/km, but luckily this model still qualifies for London’s Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) for those residing in and around the capital.

Aside from the likes of climate control and electric windows, for example, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is packed full of technology and safety equipment, as you would expect for the price. New for MY20 is the addition of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which have developed in conjunction with Bosch.

This means that you have adaptive cruise control to hand, road sign recognition, Traffic Jam Assist and Highway Assist, which keep the car in the middle of the lane in heavy traffic (Traffic Jam Assistant) or on the motorway (Highway Assist), while also adjusting the speed according to the current limits.

Finally, there’s equally Driver Attention Assist that monitors driver drowsiness and triggers an alert if necessary, meaning there’s the peace of a mind that there’s a lot of clever systems keeping you safe when out on the road.
