Singaporean Shoe Brand Anothersole Opens at Kuala Lumpur's The Exchange TRX

With the luxury goods market undergoing several shake-ups and changes, the millennials and Gen Zs are leading the way and are expected to account for 75 per cent of luxury goods purchases by 2026. That’s according to the True-Luxury Global Consumer Insight 2023 report from BCG and The Altagamma Foundation.

With this in mind, Singaporean-based shoe maker Anothersole is poised to capitalise on this trend, adding to the more than 200,000 pairs of its signature leather flats sold globally to date.

Furthermore, with their altruistic mission of donating 10 per cent of their profits to carefully selected children’s charities worldwide, consumers can purchase their footwear knowing that every step they take is helping an underprivileged child gain a better foothold in life.

Having just opened its first store-in-store at Seibu, Malaysia’s largest and first luxury department store at The Exchange TRX, Anothersole is ready to carve its niche in the luxury goods market. With an online presence in over 50 countries, this comfort-promoting shoe company have become a favourite for the discerning and modern urbanite.

Benny Chee, the founder of the company addressing attendees at the opening

“We are thrilled to launch Anothersole’s physical presence in Malaysia’s luxury footwear/accessories market,” says Benny Chee, the Founder of Anothersole, who was present at the opening in Seibu Kuala Lumpur recently.

“We believe there’s tremendous potential for us in not only introducing our sustainable. Comfy products to Malaysians in person and in spreading our dedication to ‘Make Good, Do Good’ in Malaysia.”

Benny is, of course, referring to Anothersole’s social initiative of the Buy1Feed1 programme, which commits 10 per cent of its profits to children’s charities.

So far, they have created partnerships with World Vision in Vietnam, Cambodia and Bangladesh, whereby they have sponsored various programmes designed to break the cycle of poverty by supporting children’s nutritional and educational needs. So far, Anothersole has donated SGD$250,000 to various children’s charities.

With a goal of raising SGD$1 million towards feeding hungry children and supporting their growth through sustainable communities, Anothersole is walking a path which makes good and does good beyond business.

With the ambition to become the destination for young professionals to go to for quality shoes, Anothersole has also launched a collection of mini bags, which are available in a wide range of colours and styles to match any occasion.

Combining style, functionality and sustainability, Anothersole is a socially conscious lifestyle brand, and this is reflected in all aspects of its production.

Using leather sourced from certified, responsible tanneries in Italy, Spain and Argentina, Anothersole’s leathers are naturally luxurious, rivalling any designer shoe brand, with a patina which wears beautifully over time, moulding perfectly over one’s feet and creating a walk-on-air sensation.

Recycled and repurposed polyethylene tetraphyte (rPET) is also used in their newly improved ergonomic and earth-friendly footbeds using bio-based ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), which is derived from 20 per cent castor oil. This is probably the secret to Anothersole’s springy step and comfortable feel – their superior compression and arch support in their sole.

Discarded plastic bottles are thus given new life and a new purpose and function by being made into bags. The rPET used by Anothersole is certified by the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), a leading certification organisation in the textile industry.
