Foodies Favourite Geneva is the Swiss City of Taste for 2021

The city of Geneva has been appointed Swiss City of Taste 2021; a sought after title which acknowledges Geneva’s commitment to promoting dietary diversity, sustainable food, local products and urban agriculture through their policy, ‘Feed the City’.

Geneva has been a favourite destination for many of our writers over the years, and one of the areas they all agree on is they adore the variety of food offerings.

In celebration of Geneva becoming the Swiss City of Taste for 2021, four female winegrowers have come together to create a limited-edition wine cuvée which will be available for purchase in Spring 2021.

One of the beautiful vineyards in Switzerland

Geneva’s countryside is renowned for its exceptional vineyards; and under the leadership of Brigitte Turin, ambassador of the association Nous Artisanes du Vin, Sarah Meylan, Emilienne Hutin, Sophie Dugerdil and Céline Dugerdil have joined forces to create this exclusive cuvée available in white, red and rosé in order to highlight the varying characteristics of the cantonal terroir.

A group of people enjoying a glorious mean in Geneva

Visitors to the city can enjoy all the culinary experiences that Geneva has to offer, from choosing to dine at one of the city’s 12 Michelin starred restaurants, enjoying a gourmet dinner on the Savoie Sunset Cruise or heading to Carouge to discover freshly sourced produce at the bi-weekly farmer’s market.

Swiss nationals enjoying a delicious fondue

No trip to Geneva would be complete without sampling the Swiss specialities of fondue, ‘Valaisanne plate’ and chocolate; and with Geneva Tourism guests can enjoy a guided tour to tickle the taste buds discovering restaurants and eateries along the banks of Lake Geneva and through the old town.

During the summer, one not to miss is ‘Open Cellars’ when 60 of Geneva’s vineyards open their doors in an annual celebration for locals and visitors alike.

Throughout 2021, Geneva Tourism will be unveiling a number of new initiatives to further promote the city’s gastronomic offerings.
