Loro Piana, the luxury Italian fashion house, have announced their partnership with the Ryder Cup for the upcoming two events
The brand has built its reputation on using the finest of materials and the ones used for this collaboration are no exception. The high-tech innovative intelligent-fibres will be used on the high-performance clothing for the players, managers & caddies in addition to providing stylish garbs off the course such as the team blazer.
Loro Piana’s Rain System® treatment, used already in the brand’s equestrian range, ensure the droplets of rain slide along the surface of the fabric, ensuring impermeability in even the harshest of conditions and protection against dust, first and other liquid stains. This particular line, designed especially for golf, gives the fabric a waterproof & wind-resistance finish – useful on the wider, more open courses – whilst at the same time remaining breathable, preventing humidity.
Darren Clarke, European Captain said: “I am delighted that Loro Piana has agreed to become the clothing supplier for the European Ryder Cup Team. I have been an admirer of their clothing for a long time because fashion is a subject I am particularly interested in.
“Loro Piana are focused on quality and that is something that fits with everything we are doing for The 2016 Ryder Cup Team. The outfits they have created for the team this year are fantastic and the outfit we have unveiled, which we will wear in practice at Hazeltine, shows they are also unquestionably stylish.
“We will reveal the other outfits during the Ryder Cup week itself, but I can promise you is that Team Europe will look sensational. The commitment shown by Loro Piana is greatly appreciated and I’m proud to have them as part of our team as we seek to retain The Ryder Cup.”
The collection also includes a mezzocollo sweater and a gilet made of the infamous Loro Piana cashmere. The manica corta polo shirt, made of the Featherlight wool piqué, is perfect for golf and any sporting activity, due to the natural thermoregulation and breathability of the material.
