Spray a Little Olverum Restful Sleep Pillow Mist for a Good Night’s Sleep

Sabi Phagura tries out the luxurious Olverum Restful Sleep Pillow Mist and explores how it works.

There’s no denying that COVID-19 has hurled us into unchartered territory, with life as we know it coming to an abrupt halt. It’s no surprise then that many people are finding it hard to switch off and get a good night’s sleep. But shut-eye is critical to both physical and mental health, as it helps beat and keep stress, anxiety and depression at bay.

Enlisting the help of anything that can help us achieve quality sleep to cope with our current situation is crucial right now. And in our search for natural luxurious sleeping aids, we were led to Olverum.

How Olverum works
Olverum has been kicking around since 1931 and has acquired quite a formidable reputation among its users over the decades. It also allegedly counts the royal family among its fans. Their products offer a luxurious way to unwind and promote restorative sleep that can assist in reviving a tired immune system. And because it uses plant extracts, each with their own traditional therapeutic properties, it’s also relaxing for the muscles and uplifting for the mind and body.

Background to Olverum
The brand’s bath oil was the brainchild of Franz Otto Klein, a successful winemaker from the Mosel Valley, Germany. Alongside winemaking, his passions included international travel and essential oils. Together with his wife Edith, they sourced the finest essential oils for their personal collection to create a signature bath oil. But due to scarcity of its ingredients and its exact distillation process, the couple initially made just seven litres of it, which they decanted into traditional clay bottles.

It wasn’t until 1948 that the demand for the Kleins’ unique oil grew among their close friends and family and the formula was retrieved, and production restarted. Today, the couple’s son Peter has devoted himself to bringing his parents’ creation to a wider audience. For export, he renamed the oil Olverum, taking the name from the Latin oleum verum meaning ‘true oil’.

The 50ml diffuser imbues linens and spaces with a serene fragrance to help calm the senses. The blend of essential oils, including citrus notes of bergamot, the warm, rich woodiness of Amyris, and the fruitiness of high-altitude lavender, work in unison to help support your sleep cycle.

How to use the mist
Just two pumps can disperse a natural and meditative way to help support your sleep cycle. Spritz a couple of pumps of Restful Sleep Pillow Mist into the air, or directly onto linens (pillow) from a distance of around 30cm. For the best results, use it immediately prior to rest or going to sleep.

We’ve tested many pillow mists which smell great at night, but by the morning, the scent has completely dissipated. But that’s not the case with the Olverum Restful Sleep Pillow Mist, but you do have to be a fan of lavender as the scent is fairly strong.

For a full-on luxurious experience, the Olverum Restful Sleep Pillow Mist can be used in conjunction with the full range of products. And you don’t have to wait until bedtime to use the mist either. If you’re feeling a little anxious at any point during the day, just spritz it into the air and allow it to calm your senses. Restful Sleep Pillow Mist is vegan and cruelty-free, free from artificial preservatives, fragrance and colourants.
