New Zealand’s third-largest tourist attractions, Hobbiton, is expected to “take off” with the introduction of two new daily flights to “Middle Earth” direct from Auckland through Fly My Sky.
The announcement of the new flights by leading New Zealand travel experts at New Zealand In Depth, comes as Hobbiton continues to grow visitor numbers with over 3000 per day now visiting the film set.
Paul Carberry, founder of New Zealand In Depth, said; “It is undeniable the impact that the Lord of the Rings films had on New Zealand’s tourism, and Hobbiton stands as a continuous reminder of the magical lands brought to life in the films. Even today many of our luxury travelling guests ask about the film and some of the spectacular views and locations they filmed, and we hope that this new flight will add yet another opportunity for them to experience the set direct from Auckland.”
Fly My Sky is a Qualmark Gold endorsed New Zealand-owned airline based at Auckland Airport. The scheduled flights and tours will operate return journeys twice daily, seven days a week. The service will operate between Auckland Airport and Matamata Airport using Fly My Sky’s twin-engine Britten Norman Islander aircraft, capable of transporting up to 9 passengers and accompanying luggage.
Fly My Sky Director, Keith McKenzie, said, “As a low flying aircraft, passengers can enjoy the sights of the natural New Zealand landscape during their journey. Upon arrival at Matamata Airport, passengers will be taken on a private shuttle to the Hobbiton movie set.”
Scheduled flights and tours begin Monday, November 18th and can be included on a personalised luxury travel trip with New Zealand In Depth.
