ZHIYUN Heads to NAB 2023 to Premiere its New Camera Gimbals and Lights

The Chinese technology company ZHIYUN Tech will attend NAB 2023 in Las Vegas, where it will debut some of its soon-to-be-released camera gimbals and its new lighting solutions.

Although ZHIYUN is best known for its range of professional gimbals and stabilisers, it has, in recent times, extended its product range to include lighting products, which have garnered significant attention from the industry. In this feature, we take a close look at what the company is bringing with it to Las Vegas.

An exclusive look at the WEEBILL 3S & CRANE-M3S

ZHIYUN will be offering visitors to NAB 2023 a first look at two new professional gimbals, the WEEBILL 3S (above) and the Crane 3S, which will have their official launch in May.

The WEEBILL 3S is an update to the WEEBILL 3 and features a built-in microphone, light, ultra-ergonomic SLING 2.0 Grip, and the company’s new quick-release mechanism. The WEEBILL 3S is designed to be an all-in-one content creation tool, only requiring the addition of a camera.

Also on show is the CRANE-M3, a professional gimbal that boasts strong torque motors and is ideal for a variety of camera types, including compact cameras, smartphones, and action cameras, and it even has options enabling it to be used with full-frame mirrorless cameras. If you would like more information on the WEEBILL 3 stabiliser, visit www.zhiyun-tech.com/en/product/detail/617, and for the CRANE-M3, visit www.zhiyun-tech.com/en/product/detail/479.

The MOLUS lighting range

Another product joining the two gimbals in making a US debut is the MOLUS Range of lights, which comprises the G60 and the X100.

The X100 (above) is a lightweight (385g) cinematic light that boasts a light output (3881 lux) that rivals much heavier and, dare we say, more expensive lights. It has three ways to power it, to help reduce downtime for mobile creators. They are the grip battery, a DC adaptor and 100W USB-PD fast charging.

Another light making its debut is the MOLUS G60, which compared to other professional lights, can best be described as tiny. In fact, ZHIYUN frequently uses a Rubik’s Cube as a direct size comparison. As you’ve probably guessed from its name, it is a 60W light that can be charged using a DC power adapter or via a fast-charging USB-PD. For more information on the lights, visit www.zhiyun-tech.com/en/product/detail/768 for the X100 and www.zhiyun-tech.com/en/product/detail/757 for the G60.

The FIVERAY F100 & M40

The F100 is a 100W stick light with some superb features. In addition to its excellent general lighting quality, it has built-in lighting effects such as a candle, fire, faulty bulb, TV, SOS and flash. The light stick weighs only 950g, which makes it ideal for single-handed operation. Its performance is (excuse the pun) dazzling, with a stable illuminance of up to 20708 lux.

Two images showing how the DynaVort Cooling System works

If you are worried about the amount of heat a lighting stick of the luminance generates, don’t be. It uses something called the DynaVort Cooling System™. The cooling system uses 6 FOC gyroscope-modelled heat sink fans to prevent overheating, which raises the cooling efficiency five-fold via enhanced airflow and intelligent control.

CCT mode is controlled via a dial on the light stick and has a range of 2700-6200K, along with a CRI ≧96 and TLCI ≧97. One of the significant upgrades this model has over its predecessors is the increase of RGB chips to 148, producing a lighting effect that is twice as bright as the previous model.

Another feature we particularly like is the two-leaf barn doors, which enable a wider spread of light. In addition to this, it also has a diffuser and grid. We tested the light stick in some ZOOM video calls, and it helped to produce excellent quality videos, making it a must-have for Vloggers and those wanting to look their best during video calls etc.

The F100 has built-in adaptive charging technology, which means it is compatible with PD adapters of different power. It has six built-in 2600mAh batteries, giving just over one hour’s runtime at 50W.

The ZHIYUN Fiveray M40

The final light we are highlighting is the palm-sized 40W ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40 360°. It is a simple-to-use fill light that is small enough to fit in a trouser pocket, making it easy to transport.

Like the F100, the M40 uses DynaVort technology for the best heat dispersion. Thanks to its small size, it should prove invaluable to mobile content creators and, as with the other lights mentioned, should prove extremely popular at NAB 2023.

You can read more information on the F100 light at www.zhiyun-tech.com/en/product/detail/693 and visit www.zhiyun-tech.com/en/product/detail/704 for information on the Fiveray M40.
