Temple of Incense’s New Bulgarian Rose & Oudh Incense Sticks

Temple of Incense's New Bulgarian Rose & Oudh Incense Sticks

From classic Indian masala to unique signature scents, Temple of Incense masterfully creates fresh and diverse temple-grade incense sticks, resins, oudh and oils for every occasion. Recently, the brand unveiled its new Bulgarian Rose & Oudh incense sticks, and we look at its story in this feature.

Since the heyday of the ancient Egyptians, incense has been part and parcel of everyday life for large swathes of the global population, and millennia later, it is still revered. This is particularly true of Asia, where incense is part and parcel of everyday life. An excellent example of this is Taiwan, a country with half its population being Buddhist or Taoist. It is reported that the majority of these burn incense daily when they are worshipping at home.

At Luxurious Magazine, we’re also no strangers to burning incense, given that a good proportion of us practice meditation and use the extraordinary scents it produces to get into the ideal mental state. So, when the news that the Temple of Incense was launching a new scent, we felt compelled to share the news.

Temple of Incense is the brainchild of sisters Simi and Sam Aydee, who are bringing their knowledge of incense stick artistry and alchemy to the fore with the release of an original scent combination, Bulgarian Rose & Oudh, just as the roses burst into bloom in the Spring.

To achieve the incredible scent, luxurious Arabian oudh and seductively perfumed Bulgarian rose attars (oils) are soaked into Halmaddi and woods before being hand-wrapped around a humble bamboo stick. The finished product delivers a lingering, minimum 45-minute burn of rich intensity with sensual notes of Oakmoss, Sandalwood, Amber, and Geranium.

Each box contains 20 luxury incense sticks, ethically handcrafted with love and consciousness, masterfully created from the best quality oils and resins sourced locally and around the world.

The Perfect Stick for Every Mood of Occasion
Incense sticks have been revered for centuries and are known for their therapeutic aromas, which can evoke a range of emotions and moods, promote relaxation, and lift one’s spirit. The Temple of Incense’s aromatic preparations range from Oriental, floral, and woody scents, along with incredible hints of spice and resin, to uplifting original scent combinations.

What is Halmaddi resin?
Halmaddi resin is in the beautiful base of most of the Temple of Incense masala incense. It is this natural gum that holds all the gorgeous oils and ingredients together on the bamboo stick. Much like frankincense, myrrh, and benzoin, Halmaddi is a type of natural resin derived from the Ailanthus malabarica tree, native to the Western Ghats of India.

The rich, earth-coloured liquid is like molasses when fresh and hardens to a brittle resin, developing a floral, balsamic nose as it ages.

It’s an ingredient that has been used in incense making for centuries. Not only is its fragrance distinctive, but it also has a magical ability to help the incense oils, woods, and herbs bind together and burn slowly and evenly.

Luxurious and Contemporary yet still Honouring Century-old Traditions
Whether you’re looking to set a mood, alleviate stress, enjoy exquisite fragrances, or the daily ritual of burning incense, Temple of Incense not only honours the tradition of authentic incense sticks but also offers a range of traditional and contemporary sculptural stick holders and bowls to complement every home décor.
